HexiSweep Privacy Policy

How HexiSweep processes and stores your data, uses the internet, and protects your privacy.

Privacy, clearly explained

This policy explains how the HexiSweep Android application processes user data.

Core principles

HexiSweep helps you browse and organize your gallery, find similar photos, and search for files by their content.

Photos, videos, and search queries are analyzed on your device. HexiSweep does not upload the contents of your gallery to the developer's, Google's, or Hugging Face's servers for cloud-based AI analysis and does not use that content to train models.

You do not need to create a HexiSweep account to use the main features.

The application contains no advertising. We do not sell personal data or use gallery content for advertising profiling.

Some features nevertheless require network connections, such as downloading models, interacting with Google Play, or sending an email to support at your request. These cases are described below.

Access to photos, videos, and metadata

The application accesses media files within the permissions you grant through Android. Depending on your Android version, you may grant access to your entire available gallery or only to selected files.

To provide its features, HexiSweep may process:

  • photos, videos, thumbnails, and individual video frames;
  • file and album names, file locations, types, sizes, and dates;
  • text recognized in images;
  • content categories, visual similarity features, and numerical file representations used by AI models;
  • geographic coordinates already recorded in photo metadata, if the corresponding access is granted.

Permission to access media location metadata is used to read where a photo was taken from its file. HexiSweep does not request the phone's current GPS location for this feature. In the current implementation, matching location metadata to place names is performed locally.

The data is used to display the gallery, search, group similar files, apply filters, and save progress.

Analysis itself does not modify originals. Files are deleted at your request using the confirmation mechanisms provided by Android.

You can revoke permissions in the system settings. Features that require the corresponding access may then become unavailable or work with limitations.

Data stored on your device

To speed up subsequent use, the application stores local data, including:

  • analysis results, indexes, recognized text, categories, and AI representations of files;
  • search query history;
  • selected albums, exclusions, selections, review progress, and information about completed actions;
  • language and appearance settings;
  • performance test results;
  • information about unlocked features and the search query balance;
  • technical error diagnostics.

This data is kept in the application's storage and is not synchronized with a HexiSweep account or server.

Temporary copies may be created in the application's cache to process or share files at your request.

Internet access and component downloads

Some AI models, language packs, and components are downloaded separately. For this purpose, the application connects to Google and Hugging Face services, including their file delivery infrastructure.

During a download, servers may receive ordinary technical information from the network request, such as the IP address, request time, address of the requested component, and connection parameters. The application does not include photos, videos, or the text of your search queries when downloading models.

Search queries are translated on your device once the required language pack has been prepared.

Service providers describe their data processing in their policies:

Technical data from Google SDKs

HexiSweep uses Google ML Kit for certain recognition and translation features.

According to Google's documentation, image, video, and text content supplied to these features is processed on your device. However, ML Kit also sends Google technical information for diagnostics, usage analysis, support, and SDK improvement.

Depending on the feature used, this may include:

  • device manufacturer and model, Android version, and available AI accelerators;
  • the application's package name and version;
  • device or installation identifiers used by the SDK;
  • operation execution times, component download and usage events, and error codes;
  • processing parameters, such as image format and resolution and the sizes of input and output data;
  • configured translation languages.

This technical diagnostic reporting is not an upload of your gallery content for cloud analysis. Google states that the diagnostic data listed above is transmitted over HTTPS. Further details are available in the ML Kit documentation:

Purchases

When you make purchases through Google Play, Google processes the payment.

The application receives technical information needed to verify and acknowledge the purchase, restore access, and provide the purchased features. This may include product identifiers, purchase status, and verification tokens.

HexiSweep does not request or receive your full bank card number or its security code.

Data processed directly by Google Play is governed by Google's terms and privacy policy.

Error reports and support

When an error occurs, the application may generate a local technical report. It may contain the application version, phone model, Android version, time of the error, information about how the feature was operating, error types, and filtered diagnostic events.

Photos and videos from your gallery are not automatically attached to the report.

The report is not sent to the developer automatically. If you choose to send it, the application opens an email draft that you can review, edit, and send yourself.

After you send the email, we receive the sender's email address, message text, technical report, and any other materials you choose to attach. They are used to reply, diagnose, and resolve the issue you described.

Emails and voluntarily submitted reports are deleted no later than 90 days after the issue is resolved, unless a longer retention period for particular information is required by law.

Sharing files at your request

If you use the Share feature, the selected files are passed to the application or service you select in the Android system menu.

Further processing of those files is governed by the selected recipient's rules. The same applies to the email application used to send a support request.

This sharing is distinct from gallery analysis: it takes place through a separate action you initiate.

Data retention and deletion

Local indexes, history, settings, and saved progress remain on your device until you delete them using the corresponding application feature, clear application data through Android, or uninstall the application. Some temporary data may be deleted earlier by the application or the system.

The application provides separate controls for managing search history, the analysis cache, and downloaded components. Clearing one type of cache does not delete all other data, settings, purchases, or your query balance.

Uninstalling the application does not itself delete original photos or videos or cancel purchases made through Google Play.

HexiSweep's backup rules allow the system to back up language and appearance settings. Gallery indexes, query history, location metadata, review progress, and local purchase information are not included in that list.

To request deletion of a previously submitted support request, email arturich.pog@gmail.com, preferably from the address you used to send it. We may ask for the minimum information needed to locate the correspondence and verify your request.

Retention periods for data held directly by Google, Hugging Face, and email services are determined by their own rules. The 90-day period stated above applies to support requests received by the developer, not to all data held by those services.

Request deletion of data

Data security

HexiSweep uses private application storage, Android's system permission mechanisms, and HTTPS for the network downloads it provides.

We take reasonable measures to restrict access to support requests and technical reports we receive. However, no method of storing or transmitting data provides absolute security.

Policy changes

This policy may be updated when application features or data processing practices change. The current version is published on this page with its update date.

Where applicable requirements call for a separate notice or consent, notice will be given or consent obtained before the corresponding processing begins.
